1. WELCOME – Wouter welcomed and thank everybody present

3. RATIFICATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES 30 October 2019

6. TRIP REPORTS: Rouen gave brief outline of the trip report Oasis Cederberg and Wouter mentioned Charles Oertel’s trip report.
7. PAST RIDES AND EVENTS:
10th November Breakfast ride – Ian Verhulp chatted to us about the breakfast ride to Oumeul via Helshooghte and Franshoek with Geoff as sweeper. Interesting situation at a roadblock someone’s licence was incorrect, he had his old 50CC licence with him fortunately he got off with a warning from the traffic official.

10th November Introduction to gravel rides Overberg Greyton – Jackie who attended this off-road ride described the route and the lunch stop at Old Potters Inn. She reiterated as Andy says, this ride becomes easier each time you ride it.
The scenery and area is absolutely beautiful. They were shown the brewing process of the craft beers.

10th November Club Marshals will be active for the Cape Town Triathlon – Rouen gave an account of the arrangements and the ability of the BMW marshals to make this event a success. He outlined the event from a marshal’s view point and how the training and practice brought the event together from an operational stand point. Wouter added that our guys are so adapt to getting the job done, working together like clockwork and it’s an absolute tribute to the training and team work

23rd November Club Marshals will be active at the Double Century Swellendam – David described the weekend away with the marshals in Swellendam working on the Double Century. His viewpoint working in the VOC but also spoke about the fun we have as a group. While hard work the marshals make it happen with effective comms and teamwork. Eating and drinking together that evening plus loads of chats and fun around the fire back at the cottages. We are well catered for at the event and the accommodation.
The next day Andy, Rouen and Wouter took a ride off-road to Malgas, over the Breede river with the pont before having a late breakfast in Robinson. Wouter added the motorised pont is in place and soon the hand drawn version will be a thing of the past.

24th November Breakfast ride – Charles Oertel was unfortunately not present nor anyone that was on his ride to tell us about his breakfast ride so we will hear from him later.

8. FUTURE RIDES AND EVENTS:
1st December off road training – Anne-marie chatted about the last training of the year and mentioned that there is still place so please join. They will meet at 08h30 for coffee and a chat before the training.
7th December Year End function – Magda gave an update on behalf of Jacqui about the arrangements for the party and the Quicket ticket as that will be your lucky draw number. There is still place and a short chat went around the tickets and the food and drink arrangements. There will be the usual cash bar and those that bring their own wine R20 corkage fee.
8th December last breakfast ride of the year – Wouter will lead a breakfast ride all tar there with two return options, one mixed off-road and another tar only. Meeting at Stellenbosch Donford 09h30 destination TBA but will go via Clarence drive.

9. General
New fee structure for 2020 – Magda conveyed to the members that the yearly fee will increase to R265/yr the joining fee will remain R200.
New website – Ian gave the members a run down of the new website funded by Clubs Africa, the features the changes and that it will run parallel to our existing website at first. The site is two years in the making and evolving with Clubs Africa paying and supporting. There will be easy payment options, renewal reminders, event & membership management. It is similar to online shopping with a shopping cart etc.
The look and feel is very modern, picture driven [Instagram look] ability to link to Facebook, sharing made easy.
The forum is a bit tricky to transfer but they are working on it and it’s testing well at this stage, it has to fit with the mobile friendly and picture functionality. Go have a look at https://bmwclubs.africa/

10. Guest speaker – Our guest speaker Karin of EUBike Tours gave us a wonderful presentation on touring Europe with them followed by an exciting video showing the must ride Alps with amazing switch backs.
Various routes and what to expect.
So included in the trip is your accommodation and food, your selection of bike [GS] pre-planned route in GPS and a great sense of humour for all the fun to be had.
You are responsible for your flight and insurance, your drinks and fuel.
Next year’s itinerary is on the website and booking has started.
The Alps tour 2nd to 14th July 2020 and a new route Corsica 22nd June to 4th July 2020.
